​STREET PASTORS...

The church in action on the streets...

​Street pastors are trained volunteers from local churches who care about their community. They patrol in teams of men and women, usually from 10pm to 4am on a Friday and Saturday night, to care for, listen to and help people who are out on the streets.

Street Pastors provide practical support, including:

• ​Flip-flops [we know high-heels aren’t always the most comfortable]
• Bottled water [hydration is key!]
• Spikey bottle stoppers & Stoptoppers [to help prevent people’s drinks being spiked]
• First-Aid
• Clearing away bottles, cans, glasses and broken glass [to protect people from getting injured]
• Helping people get home safely

A street pastor is someone who is…

• a Christian and is part of a local church;
• concerned for society and their local community;
• willing to engage with people, whatever their perspective on life and wherever they hang out;
• happy to work in a team and in collaboration with other agencies and projects, both statutory and voluntary.

Prayer Pastors are a vital part of what Street Pastors do. A Prayer Pastor is someone with a desire to make a difference through prayer in the city/town they live in, and willing to invest in the lives of others.

Hope Church Sittingbourne are a partner church for Sittingbourne Street Pastors, supporting its operation with encouraging and recruiting volunteers who serve in various capacities such as going on the streets, serving the team as a Prayer Pastor and serving in governance roles within the steering committee.
